Managing Director Chris Magill Honored with BizTech Award for Site Selection Technology

Vista Site Selection Managing Director Chris Magill was presented a Columbus Business First BizTech Award for “Pushing The Central Ohio Economy Forward.” In a profile story, Chris emphasized Vista’s work not only in Central Ohio but also nationwide, explaining how we work to boost both local and national economic growth through a combination of “advanced data analytics, customized data tools and economic advisory.”

Business First asked all BizTech winners about how artificial intelligence (AI) impacted their business. Chris acknowledged the importance of AI for Vista’s process, noting the ability to sort huge amounts of data is essential when utilizing our proprietary site selection technology to gather insights.

Still, he was emphatic that Vista’s site selection accomplishments would not be possible without human beings helping to nail down the precise details required to find the perfect site.

“AI doesn’t fully grasp nuances of what makes sites truly ideal,” Chris said. “This puts the responsibility on us to ask the right questions and fully understand clients’ needs. The AI’s power depends on the quality of input data; without careful verification, the results can be misleading.”

Chris has consulted on capital investment projects — including negotiating and analyzing tax credit, grant and loan-financing solutions — in more than 20 states. His grasp on his clients’ needs makes Chris a valuable member of the Vista Site Selection team, as does his knowledge of laws and incentive negotiations across all levels of government.
